Whether you’re a graduate, looking for a traineeship or maybe a career change, Landgate offers plenty of ways to get your foot in the door.

Graduate Program

Our Graduate Program is targeted at university students who have recently completed their undergraduate degree or who will soon complete their studies. We offer a fixed-term, paid employment opportunity with part-time or full-time options. You can rotate around various areas of our business to gain a wide range of knowledge and experience or remain in one business area, depending on your needs and qualifications.

  • Enjoy a fixed term two-year contract, then switch to permanent once you’ve completed the program.
  • If you have completed an undergraduate qualification at university within the last 2-3 years, this is for you.
  • To be eligible you’ll be under 25 OR identify as a First Nations person OR a person with disability.
  • Graduates from all fields are encouraged to apply, those studying Property Development and Valuations, Surveying, or Spatial Science are highly regarded.
  • You will be paid a Level 3 salary, in line with the Public Sector CSA Agreement
  • The Graduate Program is advertised around July-August of each year on Jobs WA and our Job Vacancies page, or you can register your interest in future intakes by emailing graduates@landgate.wa.gov.au. Cadetships

Our cadetship provides employment experience within your chosen profession while you complete your studies. It available to all ages offering a fixed-term, paid employment opportunity, with part-time or full-time options.

  • Cadetships vary from six months to up to three years, depending on your area of study and how soon you will be graduating.
  • To be eligible you’ll need to be currently studying a Certificate IV (or above) qualification at TAFE, or an undergraduate qualification at university.
  • Students from all fields are encouraged to apply, those studying Property Development and Valuations, Surveying, or Spatial Science are highly regarded.
  • You’ll be paid a Level 2 salary, in line with the Public Sector CSA Agreement

Traineeships

A traineeship provides valuable employment experience, either part time or full time, within your chosen profession while you complete your studies.

  • Traineeships work in conjunction with your studies and last between one to two years.
  • To be eligible you’ll need to be currently studying a Certificate II or III qualification. This can be whilst you are still completing high school or after you have finished.
  • There are no age restrictions to be employed on a traineeship at Landgate, however School-Based Trainees must still be enrolled in high school.
  • Our trainees are generally completing a Certificate II or III in Government. Other professions, like Surveying and Spatial Information Services may be considered.
  • You’ll be paid a Level 1 salary, in line with the Public Sector CSA Agreement
  • We employee trainees through the Public Sector Commission’s Solid Futures and School Based Traineeship programs.

Vacation Work

With our vacation work, you’ll have short-term, paid employment, usually during the vacation period of your studies, to gain meaningful, practical experience that’s relevant to your chosen profession.

  • Our vacation work is open to all ages and is usually between four to twelve weeks duration, undertaken during semester breaks.
  • Vacation work is available for Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
  • Students from all fields are welcome to apply for vacation work opportunities, but those studying Property Development and Valuations, Surveying, or Spatial Science are highly regarded.
  • You’ll be paid a Level 2 or 3 salary, in line with the Public Sector CSA Agreement, depending on the work you’re doing.
  • Vacation work opportunities are advertised on Jobs WA, university and TAFE jobs boards, and our Job Vacancies page, or you can register your interest in vacation work by emailing graduates@landgate.wa.gov.au.

Work Placements (Internships)

Our work placements (also known as an unpaid internships) are a great opportunity to gain work experience in your chosen field and can also help satisfy the requirements of your qualification. Apply your theoretical learning in a real environment and learn new skills.

  • Our work placements are usually 100-120 hours duration, either in a full-time block or part-time over a semester and are often project based.
  • Work placements are available for Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
  • Students of all ages from all fields are welcome to apply for work placement opportunities, but those studying Property Development and Valuations, Surveying, or Spatial Science are highly regarded.
  • Work Placement is an unpaid internship, that usually contributes to the completion of your qualification.
  • Work placement opportunities are advertised on Jobs WA, university and TAFE jobs boards, and our Job Vacancies page, or can be organised directly through your university. You can also register your interest in a work placement by emailing graduates@landgate.wa.gov.au.

Work Experience

Our work experience offers short-term experience of unpaid employment, to senior students in high school. It gives you the opportunity to get exposure to the types of roles you may want to pursue in the future.

  • Work experience is usually for a five-day period, during school term. A written agreement between Landgate and your school will be required.
  • To be eligible for a work experience opportunity you need to be currently enrolled in high school, in year 10, 11 or 12.
  • Expressions of interest in work experience are welcome from any students, regardless of their area of interest, but those in the local Midland / City of Swan area, and/or from diversity groups (such as First Nations students, or students with a disability), will be given priority
